Dear Parents

The summer is winding down and it is time to start preparing to begin our school year.  Included in this email is an attachment for each grades supply list.

With the new school year once again comes change.  For starters the Times News article expressed how we are rebranding ourselves so that we will be more appealing to people outside of our religious circles.  Legally the Clover Trinity Lutheran School’s name will not change, but as we advertize we will use the name Clover Christian School.

As of late Monday (August 2) afternoon we have found out that Mrs. Tews has accepted a 2nd grade teaching position at the Lighthouse Christian School.  We would like to thank her for her years of service here and wish her God’s peace and blessings in her new job.  Thank you for all that you have done Mrs. Tews.

Finally the Clover Board of Christian Education has decided to move to a different style of classroom.  It will be a multi-age classroom, and is very similar to our multi-grade classroom that has been a part of our structure here at Clover since 1915.  The classroom structure will be K-2 taught by Mrs. Hadley and 3-5 taught by Mrs. Kohtz.  The staff would like to meet with you to discuss more about this change and to address any questions.  Obviously the biggest change is going to be in the K-2 classroom, therefore I am planning on meeting with the parents of each of the children in the K-2 classroom, but I would also like to meet with anyone who may have any questions about the multi-age program.

This Model is being taken from a public school in Oregon who was one of the lowest scoring schools in the state, and moved to this multi-age model.  They are now the 5th best ranked school in the nation.  For more interesting reading about this model read “Fallacies in Education” Why schools are mired in mediocrity by Randy Trani.  Mr. Trani was the guest speaker in the LCMS North West Districts administrator’s conference last year, and several schools are now moving to this model.

I know that there will be many questions and I cannot begin to answer them in this letter.  I would like to speak with all of the parents in our school.  Right now I am in the process of contacting the parents of our K-2 students, and will continue to reach out to anyone with questions or concerns.  If you would like to talk about this please call, email, text or come over to the school and I would love to visit with you about this exciting new school year.

Growing in Christ
