May 12, 2011 Instructions for a Shoe Box Derby Car
Clover’s 2nd annual Pre-K and Pre-school Shoe Box Derby is scheduled for Thursday, May 19th. You will need a shoe box and something to serve as wheels. We are depending on your creativity to help your child create his or her racer. Please try to use materials that you have around the house. We don’t want this to create an expense. If you are using plastic lids for “wheels”, we suggest using a hammer and nail to punch holes in the center of your “wheels” for attaching. We have pictures of racers from last year. Your child may bring the completed racer to school any time after this announcement and before Derby Day. The racer should be able to be pushed as well as pulled. We are setting aside time for the big event from 10:15 am to 11:30 on Derby Day. Please plan to attend with your child. If you are unable to attend, please let us know so that we can get a helper for your child. We will have some helpers set up and operate the derby. We are looking forward to an action packed morning. Thanks for your support in this event.
